I know vga is very old but isn't dvi basically hdmi? So can someone suggest which cable i buy with the monitor that i will buy which won't have an hdmi port? Or should i just pay more for that other asus monitor with hdmi port instead. So if i buy the hdmi to dvi cable, then i would use the usb c to hdmi cable for my samsung monitor right? The samsung monitor i use is 1920 x 1200 and i connect hdmi to hdmi and it is that resolution. would the hdmi to dvi cable support 1920x1200 on my asus monitor? My laptop resolution is 1920 x 1080. ![]() The one thing that would concern me a bit is. Okay so if im going to buy the asus monitor i posted which has displayport, dvi and vga and NO HDMI.Ī: AmazonBasics HDMI Input to DVI Output Adapter Cable - 6 Feet (Latest Standard): Home Audio TheaterĪ: USB C to DisplayPort Cable, CHOETECH USB 3.1 Type C to DP Cable Thunderbolt 3 Port Compatible with 2017 iMac,MacBook Pro,Dell XPS 15/13,ChromeBook Pixel,Samsung Galaxy S9/Note 8/S8(4ft/1.2m): Computers Accessories I give up on this cursed monitor, it simply can't handle 240hz 10bit.Monitor Recommendation for Dual Monitor with Displayport, HDMI, DVI I'll update this message if the black screen issue appears again.Įdit #3: Ugh, it's back after enabling adaptive sync. This use to be a constant issue, but now seems to be gone entirely. After updating to the latest Nvidia driver (version 497.29), I'm no longer getting the 1 seconds black screen that's followed by the 'displayport' message when using 10bpc. It stopped the disconnect 'displayport' message, but the issue of seemingly random distortion persists.Įdit #2: I can't seem to reply to this post, so I will make another edit. I don't want to replace it because the alternative is an IPS with poor contrast, but I feel so scammed buying an expensive monitor that can't deliver on its promises.Įdit: The latest Nvidia driver has fixed DSC at 10bit for me. This monitor is the most beautiful pile of shit I've ever bought. Can this monitor just not handle that kind of bandwidth? I've had the monitor replaced already, tried two different cables, tried two different graphics cards (1x AMD, 1x Nvidia 3080). The only thing that completely fixes the problem for me is switching off DP 1.4 which prevents me from getting 240hz. If I'm in 8 bit I get random flicker that looks like distortion. ![]() If I'm in 10 bit I get constant disconnects.
